Water and Sanitation

Dinajpur district lies in a drought-prone region, causing scarcity of safe drinking water and water for irrigation. VEDF undertook this project with participatory methodology involving local government members, teachers, Imams, journalists, and community leaders. A number of hand tube-wells with pucca/concrete platforms have been established, still providing arsenic-free safe drinking water.

Iftar and Qurbani Meat Distribution

During the holy month of Ramadan, VEDF periodically distributes Iftar food packages to hardcore poor families who cannot afford proper food intake. At Eid-ul-Adha, funding partners also support distribution of Qurbani (sacrificial) meat, enabling poor families to access protein in their daily diet.

Relief, Emergency Response and Seasonal Distribution

Beyond Ramadan and Eid support, VEDF responds to seasonal hardship and disaster-related humanitarian needs in its operational areas. During severe flooding, flash floods, excessive rainfall, landslides, cyclones, river erosion and similar emergencies, affected families may lose homes, food stocks, clothing and access to safe drinking water. VEDF therefore prioritizes rapid, need-based relief that protects life and dignity while creating a pathway toward recovery and development.
